Who Am I
I am a disabled combat veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Like many who have served, I faced significant mental health challenges upon returning home—challenges that at one point led me to attempt to take my own life.
By circumstances I am profoundly grateful for, that attempt was unsuccessful. In that moment, I was overwhelmed—fearful, medicated, and not thinking clearly. In the time since, I have come to understand the depth of pain I carried—and more importantly, the pain my absence would have placed on those who love me.
That realization became my purpose.
To this day, I still receive calls about friends and fellow veterans who have taken their own lives. We have all heard the statistics—an estimated 22 veterans die by suicide each day. What is spoken about far less is the ripple effect: even the spouses of veterans are affected, with heartbreaking loss continuing beyond those who served.
My mission is to speak openly about the realities many veterans face: the pain, the nightmares, and the lasting effects of service. While it may feel like ending your life would bring relief, it does not end the pain—it transfers it to the people who care about you most. These are individuals who did not choose this path, yet would carry that burden for the rest of their lives.
You are not alone in this fight. Your life has value, and your presence matters more than you may realize.
Stay strong. Live for your family. And most importantly—please reach out and get help.
